Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year at St. Mary's Education Centre/Academy

Administration and staff at SMEC/A are very excited to welcome our new and returning
students to fantastic learning opportunities and fun-filled events through the 2025-2026 academic school year.
At St. Mary’s Education Centre/Academy, we align our learning environment with the
Strait Regional Centre for Education System Improvement (SIP) Plan striving to foster student safety, well-being, and generating a variety of learning opportunities in an inclusive community atmosphere. We generate our Student Success Plan in correlation with the SIP focusing on goals of well-being, literacy and mathematics.
I want to extend gratitude to Building Operator, Jasper Jordan, custodial staff Phillip Wilson, Sheryl Hodgson, and Terry Smith for the incredible work with preparation, planning, and placing our building in outstanding condition for our school community.
St. Mary’s Education Centre/Academy is delighted to welcome some new faces to our
team. On Tuesday, September 11, 2025, we are hosting a ‘Meet the Teacher’ evening with ice-cream and snacks for introductions to our new staff members. Further communication will be sent via our messaging system regarding times for the evening.
The academic 2025-2026 school year brings together the opportunity to continue fostering extra-curricular opportunities in athletics, arts, clubs, and music.
Communication will continue to be a focal point of our staff here at SMEC/A to inform
families of learning opportunities and school activities. Communication in forms of our alert messaging system, Facebook page, and website. We look forward to continuing our strong community engagement and involvement building trust, confidence, and connectivity with our students, staff, and the community.
We wish all families a safe, and happy return to our 2025-2026 academic year and we as a staff are very excited to see those happy smiling faces working together with us to provide the best learning opportunities possible for our students.
Sincerely,
Trevor MacIsaac, Principal
